Pricey organic fruits and vegetables are so deeply discounted at the Midtown Produce Exchange because it's the retail outlet of the distributor that places organic items in many local stores. When they have more in-season items than their clients need, this is where the surplus ends up. Perfect organic Rainier cherries show up for $2 a quart and organic apples appear at $4 a bag. They're also the distributor for several area farmers, so you'll often find local produce at farmers' market prices.
